2019 iPhone tipped to offer key HUAWEI, Samsung feature
July 26, 2025
It’s been a few months since the2018 iPhoneslaunched, butAppleis undoubtedly hard at work on the 2019 models. And the most recent rumor suggests that the next series could gain aHuaweiandSamsungfeature.
Japanese Apple blogMacotakara(h/t:9to5Mac) reports that the new iPhones will offerIntegrated Device Technology‘s reverse wireless charging technology, citing information from Chinese suppliers. IDT’s reverse wireless charging functionality is also in Samsung’sGalaxy S10series, marketed asWireless PowerShare.

Samsung isn’t first to offer the technology, as theHUAWEI Mate 20 Prooffers reverse wireless charging too. But Samsung’s take provides five-watt charging speeds compared to HUAWEI’s roughly 2.5 watt rate. We don’t yet know how fast Apple’s charging solution would be.
The functionality could be pretty important for Apple nonetheless, as it could allow users to charge theirApple WatchandAirPodsvia the iPhone itself. So you wouldn’t need to carry around extra charging adapters and cables if you really don’t want to.
You’d also expect Apple to increase the battery size of its upcoming iPhones in order to allow for reverse charging. After all, what’s the point of the feature if charging up your Apple Watch quickly saps your iPhone’s juice?
Macotakaraalso reports that Apple might include an 18-watt charging adapter with the new iPhone range. The lack of a fast-charging adapter out of the box has long been one of the main annoyances with iPhones. This is particularly irksome when devices like the Mate 20 Pro hit 40-watt charging speeds with the included adapter.
