Amazon’s new Kindle Oasis cares more about your retinas

Today, Amazon announced the third generation of its Kindle Oasise-reader. Nowavailable for pre-order, the new Kindle Oasis’ highlight feature is the display’s adjustable color temperature.
Blue light is typically fine during the day, but it’soften citedas a leading cause of eye fatigue. It’s particularly troublesome at night when you might want to read a chapter or two before bed and the light is too harsh for your eyes. The new feature lets you change how warm or cool the display’s color tone is to offset some of that harshness.
You can manually schedule the warmer tones to kick in at any given start and end time. You can also schedule for sunset and sunrise or adjust the warmer tones whenever you want to.
Also, Amazon notes the new Kindle Oasis features “the latest e-ink technology for fast page turns.” We’ll keep our hopes up for a lower number of page refreshes.
Everything else about the new Kindle Oasis remains the same relative to its predecessor, for better and worse. That means it has a seven-inch display with 1,680 x 1,264 resolution, 8 or 32GB of storage, an IPX8 rating for protection from water,optional 4G LTE, and Micro-USB instead ofUSB-C.
The Wi-Fi-only and 4G LTE variants are now available for pre-order. The Wi-Fi variant starts at $249.99, while the only 4G LTE model with 32GB of storage and no special offers goes for $369.99. Both variants start shipping July 24.
