Chase’s mobile app gains fingerprint support

August 18, 2025

Following in the recent footsteps ofBank of America, Chase has added Marshmallow-native fingerprint scanning support to their mobile app. Now you’re able to quickly and securely hop into your accounts with a single press on the scanner – far quicker than typing in a clunky username and password.

Of course, there is a little bit of a catch here. You naturally have to be running a device with a fingerprint scanner (duh) but you also have to be running Android 6.0.1Marshmallow. Since Marshmallow has hadsuch a glacial rollout, that means that a lot of Chase mobile app users won’t be able to use this nifty little feature. However, for those who fit the bill, it’s an excellent little addition to an otherwise already-solid banking app.

The bank has pointed out that, due to different ways that manufacturers have implemented Android fingerprint reading, this functionality may not work on all devices even if they are running Marshmallow. This is one of those cases where crowdsourcing knowledge can be really helpful, so if you’re a Chase-using Marshmallow device owner, click the button below to grab the latest version of the app and let us know if the fingerprint sign-in capability works on your device! And, as always stay tuned to Android Authority to stay abreast of all the latest features coming to the apps that you use on the regular!
