Chromecast adds support for several family friendly games
June 30, 2025
When the Chromecast was first announced, we couldn’t help but be excited by the idea of a media streamer that was tightly integrated with our mobile devices while also managing to be extremely affordable. Since then, the platform has evolved considerably, adding a number of video and entertainment services (both officially and unofficiallythanks to the SDK), and more recently adding screen mirroring capabilities to the mix.
With the holidays just around the corner, Google is now adding several new Chromecast compatible apps to its ever growing library. In addition to bringing casting functionality for the Showtime Anytime and Starz apps, Google is also introducing a number of new family friendly games. While gaming has existed on the Chromecast for a while (in limited capacity), this is the first time that Google has officially showcased the Chromecast as a gaming device.

Ina blog post Googlementions classics like Wheel of Fortune, Monopoly Dash, Connect Four Quads, Simon Swipe, and Scrabble Blitz. There’s also quiz type games like Big Web Quiz and Emoji Party. For those that are into dancing (kids, kids at heart, etc), Just Dance is also getting Chromecast support. As for controlling these games? As always, you may simply use a phone or tablet. It’s also worth mentioning that these are multiplayer experiences and so multiple phones and tablets (Android and/or iOS) can join in on the fun.
For more details on the games, be sure to check outGoogle’s official blog postor head over toChromecast’s app list.Have you tried any of these games yet, if so, what do you think of the experience? Does the Chromecast have potential as a family gaming device?
