Easily book an Uber or Lyft using Google Assistant voice commands

July 21, 2025

Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft have come a long way in a short amount of time. But the services are quickly becoming ubiquitous around the world, and it seems thatGoogle Assistantwants to get in on the fun.

Starting now, you can use Google Assistant voice commands tobook a ridethrough Uber, Lyft, Ola, Grab, and other ride-sharing services. Simply ask, “OK Google, book me a ride to…” and say your destination.

You can also say, “Hey Google, get me a taxi to…” and then your destination.

When you say those commands, Google Assistant will bring up a few options for you and give you pricing estimations for the services. Check out an example I just did below:

Myself, I prefer to use Lyft over Uber because Uber’s company policies andhistory of scandalspushed me away. In my case, I can also say, “Hey Google, book a Lyft to the Yale University Art Gallery,” and Google Assistant will skip the estimation process and simply pull up the Lyft.

This new feature is rolling out worldwide to any country that has a supported ride-sharing service. However, the voice commands only work in English for right now. Google says it plans to launch the commands in more languages “over the coming months.”
