Fitbit has shipped over 1 million Versa smartwatches in just under two months
August 01, 2025
Fitbit has announced that it has shipped more than one millionFitbit Versasmartwatches since the device became available on April 16. It also said that over 2.4 million users have already used thefemale health tracking featurethat the company introduced last month.
Both the new watch and the new feature appear to be part of an attempt by the company to help make the device appeal to a larger audience. In a statement, the company said: “With Fitbit Versa, we are delivering on our promise to offer a true mass appeal smartwatch with engaging new features.”

This is quite a turnaround for the company whose first smartwatch, theIonic, did not appear to do quite so well upon release. While Fitbit didn’t unveil sales numbers for the device, it did say that the Ionicfailed to meet the sales targetsset by the company.
Without official sales numbers it is hard to make an accurate comparison of the two watches, but the fact that Fitbit released a statement about Versa’s market performance so far suggests that the company is far happier with how it is performing.

The Fitbit Versa refined the experience provided by the Ionic in a number of ways. It changed up the design quite drastically, making it smaller and thinner, but with a larger display. Additionally, Versa watches were powered by Fitbit OS 2.0 upon release, although this has since beenrolled out to existing Ionic watchestoo.
Perhaps the most crucial thing Fitbit did was reduce the price by $100. While this means that users no longer have GPS, it did allow the company to significantly undercut watches from established smartwatch companies like Samsung and Apple.
