From OnePlus X to OnePlus 3T, older OnePlus phones get Android Pie AOSP ports
July 11, 2025
Android Piehas been out for roughly two weeks now, and the developer community has been beavering away at releases for popular devices. Now,XDA-Developersreports that olderOnePlushandsets have received unofficial AOSP ports of the new Android update.
Two of the more prominent devices to get Android Pie ports are theOnePlus XandOnePlus 2. This is noteworthy because the Chinese brand confirmed they wouldn’t issue the new update for these phones. So it’s great to see the community step in and deliver Android Pie instead.

According toXDA, there are a few issues with the OnePlus X port (e.g. USB MTP support and notification slider), but both ROMs seem to work well enough anyway.
TheOnePlus 3andOnePlus 3Tarescheduledto receive Android Pie from the brand at some point (skipping Android 8.1), but that hasn’t stopped the community from stepping in here, either. The devices received a port of the Pixel Experience ROM, and it seems like encryption and NFC are the only issues at this point.

Hopefully, theProject Trebleframework (shipping withAndroid Oreoand beyond) means official updates will be a far more frequent occurrence. Nevertheless, we’re glad to see the old OnePlus devices get some community love anyway.
As for theOnePlus 6, it’s scheduled to be the first OnePlus device to receive Android Pie, followed by the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, and the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. There’s no word on a solid launch date for these updates, but the new device is part of the Android P beta programme.
