August 13, 2025
Google is rolling out support for Saavn and Gaana, two popular Indian music streaming services, for the Google Home. A Google Home user in Indiaposted a screenshoton Reddit of the Google Home app that showed both music streaming services listed alongside Google Play Music.
Though Saavn and Gaana are available internationally, they are most popular with Indian users. Both services have a large selection of Indian music and offer users the choice between a free ad-supported service and a paid monthly subscription service.

This news follows a recent tweet from the Google India Twitter account confirming that the Google Home will be released in the country soon (though those who buy one elsewhere can still use it in India right now). While there is no date in the official Tweet, rumors suggest that it will bereleased in India on April 10at an event in New Delhi. Retailer Flipkart has even set up alanding pagejust for the smart speakers.
When it finally gets released in India, the Google Home will face some stiff competition in the smart speaker market. Amazon released its Echo smart speaker on an invite-only basis in late 2017, before launchingAmazon Prime Musicsoon after the full launch earlier this year.
