Google announced the news on its Australian blog earlier today, stating that the Google Home would provide latest new stories from the likes of Fox Sports, The Australian, ABC News, Sky News, and the Huffington Post, whileCNETnotes that it will support music playback from Triple J and podcasts through Tune-In.

You’ll also be able to play video from YouTube, Stan, and Netflix through Chromecast, but possibly the most exciting inclusion is that of an authentic Aussie accent and some Straya-specific treats.

“Ask it for brekkie ideas or where the nearest servo is […] ask it what sound a Kookaburra makes, and it’ll cue the laughter we all know and love,” wrote Google in its blog post. “And of course, we’ve hidden a few Aussie treats for you to discover along the way. Why not try asking your Assistant on Google Home ‘Are you going to Bonnie Doon?'”

Google Wifi, meanwhile, will provide the same easy-to-set-up, mesh network thrills that the device has in other regions.

The Google Home will be available from the Google Store, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Telstra, Optus and Qantas Store for AUD$199. Google Wifi, meanwhile, can be picked up from Google Store, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, and Officeworks for AUD$199 for a single unit or AUD$499 for a three-pack.
