Google Pixel XL 2 leak shows off 2:1 AMOLED display, new camera sensor, and more

July 02, 2025

We’re still in the dark on a lot of things when it comes to Google’s2017 Pixel devices. What will they be called? How much will they cost? What will they look like? Scratch that last one…Android Policehas brought us a brand new render of the new LG-made Pixel XL successor, and it lookshot.

Let’s start with the back. As you can see, the glass “window” on the rear is still there, only it looks to be much shorter this time around. It no longer surrounds the rear-facing fingerprint sensor, and it looks like it curves around the sides and top of the device ever-so-slightly. There’s also a redesigned camera module, though it’s tough to tell by the render if it sticks out or not.

The front of the device is where things get interesting. According to the leak, the front of the phone is equipped with an LG-made (yes, that’s right) 6-inch AMOLED display with a 2:1 aspect ratio and rounded corners. There appears to be very minimal bezel around the left and right sides of the device, and even the front “chin”, which was one of the biggest downsides to the design of last year’s Pixel XL, has been shrunken down significantly. Up top you’re able to see the front-facing camera sensor and speaker grille.

There was no word in the report about a 3.5 mm headphone jack, or lack thereof.

Oh, and one other thing — the report also mentions that this new Pixel XL will come with a squeezable frame, similar to theHTC U11’sEdge Sense. The squeezable frame will supposedly allow users to interact with the Google Assistant in various ways, among other things.

Previous rumorsfor the Pixel XL 2 suggest the device will sport Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform under the hood, as well as 4 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. Googleappearsto be working on an Always On Display feature for the upcoming Pixel phones, too.

If this render turns out to be accurate, the Pixel XL 2 is going to be one fine-looking smartphone. Google is certainly flexing its design muscles here, and it’s clear the company wants to make this new device on-par with the Galaxy S8 and LG G6 on the design front.

What do you think about this new render? If the Pixel XL’s successor turns out looking like this, would you be on board? Why or why not? Sound off in the comments below.
