Here’s the changelog for the Galaxy S8 Oreo update

Samsung recently began rolling outAndroid Oreoto itsGalaxy S8 and S8 Plus. It’s currentlylanding in Europeand should be hitting North America in the coming weeks. If you’re interested in what it includes, Samsung has now posted the official changes on its website (viaAndroid Police).

The patch notes relate to the Exynos model of the Galaxy S8 (SM-G950F); however, the Snapdragon variant (SM-G950U)—and both chipset models of the Galaxy S8 Plus—should house the same (or very similar) features.

The changelog includes an extensive list of improvements and you may view them all atSamsung’s official page. Below, we’ve highlighted some of the more notable upgrades.

System PerformanceBackground services are limited to improve performance and battery life. Currently running apps will always be shown in the notification panel.

BiometricsTo improve your security, features that use biometrics (face, fingerprints, and irises) are only available when you use a secure screen lock type (pattern, PIN, or password).

Quick PanelManage notifications for each app with notification categories (supported apps only).

Home ScreenTouch and hold an app to display shortcuts to common or recommended tasks within the app (supported apps only).

Edge screenImproved font size, color, and other settings for better Edge panel visibility. Added 3 more Edge lighting effects and color customization for apps.

Lock Screen and Always On DisplayNew clock styles for the Lock screen and Always On Display.

Samsung Dual MessengerInstall a second copy of a messaging app so you can use two accounts at the same time.

Find My MobileBack up Secure Folder to Samsung Cloud remotely when your phone is lost.

There are many other adjustments under the hood—like Samsung Cloud Drive integration for all your remote storage needs—and native Oreo features, like notification badges and picture-in-picture mode, will also be included.
