August 03, 2025

TheSamsung Galaxy Z Flipwas one of the more innovative designs of 2020, but if there’s one area where Samsung’s device needed improving, it’s the battery. The Galaxy Z Flip and Z Flip 5G both offer a 3,300mAh battery that’s definitely on the small side today. Unfortunately, it looks like the Galaxy Z Flip 2 won’t be better.

Korean news outletThe Elecreports that the Galaxy Z Flip 2 (or whatever the 2021 model is called) will be equipped with the same dual battery system as the older devices. Specifically, the website notes that a 903mAh battery will reside in the top part of the phone, while a 2,300mAh battery will be mounted in the bottom half of the device.

That gives us a capacity of 3,203mAh, which is broadly in line with the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Flip 5G’s 3,300mAh capacity. What would you like to see from the Galaxy Z Flip 2?

We thought the Galaxy Z Flip 4G offered mediocre endurance when wereviewedit early last year. FormerAndroid Authorityreviewer David Imel noted that he got five hours of screen-on time, saying the phone would last from 10AM until 10AM the next morning. Expect shorter endurance with the 5G model as well.

Hopefully Samsung improves the Galaxy Z Flip 2 in other areas if battery capacity isn’t going to be one of them. We thought the Z Flip 4G could do with much faster charging speeds too (it tops out at 15W), so here’s to seeing improvements here.
