JerryRigEverything gives the vivo Nex a cool see-through back
August 01, 2025
Thevivo Nexis one of the most unique handsets on the market at the moment, thanks to its pop-up front-facing camera. Zack Nelson, the voice behind theJerryRigEverythingYouTube channel, thought it was crazy to hide the internal mechanics of the camera, so he decided to remove the phone’s colored, non-transparent backing.
Just likeprevious proceduresof this nature, Nelson started off by using a heat gun to soften the phone’s adhesive and lifted the backing away from the phone. With that removed, he found that he could pull and scrape the plastic material off of the Gorilla Glass which would, in turn, allow him to look inward at the camera’s mechanics once the phone was put back together.

As you can see from the video, Nelson wasn’t happy just yet, because a piece of metal shielding was laying on top of the spring system that raises and lowers the selfie camera. To fix this, Nelson decided to cut out a portion of the shielding that was hiding the mechanics and then mounted the metal cover back into place as he wasn’t sure if it served a specific purpose inside the vivo Nex.
Unlike some other phones that have received this treatment onJerryRigEverything, this process doesn’t remove the phone’s water-resistance rating as the vivo Nex wasn’t IP certified in the first place. But, understandably, making these modifications will end up voiding the handset’s warranty.
