Mysterious Galaxy P could be first Samsung phone with in-display fingerprint tech

July 25, 2025

Samsung could be about to make good on its promise to bring innovation to mid-range phones by giving the rumored Samsung Galaxy P an in-display fingerprint sensor. The news was revealed by Samsung leakerMMDDJ(viaPhone Arena), who alsohintedthat the phone will arrive next month. If true, it will be the first Samsung phone to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.

In previous Tweets, the same leaker said the Samsung Galaxy P will be a mid-range “Original Design Manufacturer” phone specifically for China. This means Samsung will design the phone, but not manufacture it in its own facilities.

It has long been rumored that Samsung will give theGalaxy S10an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor and the next phone in theA seriesan optical sensor. Should these rumors be true, the Samsung Galaxy P would likely get an optical sensor with Samsung keeping the ultrasonic one exclusive for the Galaxy S10.

While little is actually known about the Galaxy P, the rumors do make a lot of sense. Samsung’s share of the smartphone market in China fell tobelow one percentrecently. By bringing out a China-specific model that features breakthrough technology, Samsung could be attempting to regain some market share in the country.
