New Xiaomi 5G phone surfaces online, could be Xiaomi Mi 9 5G variant

We’ve seen the first wave of5Gphones launch this year, butXiaomismashed our price expectations with the €599Mi Mix 3 5G. It now turns out that the company is working on a second 5G phone, according to China’s TENAA regulatory body.
The new phone, featuring the model number M1908F1XE, is listed onTENAAas a “5G digital mobile phone” according to machine translation. Furthermore, the filing reveals support for 5G NSA bands 41, 78, and 79.
Core specs listed by the regulatory body include a 2.95Ghz octa-core processor (a match for theSnapdragon 855 Plus), 6GB to 12GB of RAM, 128GB to 512GB of fixed storage, and a 4,000mAh battery.
Other notable details include a 6.39-inch AMOLED screen (full HD+), atriple rear camerasetup (featuring a48MPprimary camera and a 2x telephoto camera), a 20MP selfie camera in a waterdrop notch, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The new phone could be a Xiaomi Mi 9 5G, owing to the similarities between it and thestandard Mi 9. In fact, at least one outletreportsthat the final name will be the Xiaomi Mi 9S 5G, citing a Chinese carrier listing.
This upcoming phone will improve upon the Mi 9 by offering a bigger battery (4,000mAh versus 3,300mAh) and a slightly faster chipset (Snapdragon 855 Plus versus Snapdragon 855). So it might be worth a look if you liked the idea of the Mi 9 but wanted a bit more speed and endurance.
