OnePlus 6 update brings portrait mode selfies, more improvements
June 24, 2025
TheOnePlus 6is off to a solid start with largely positive reviews, and now it’s getting some new features with its latest update.
Portrait mode for the front camera arrives via the OxygenOS 5.1.6 update, as spotted by the OnePlus forums and on our review unit (seen below). The update means OnePlus joins the likes ofLenovo,Huawei,Google, andXiaomiin offering a selfie portrait mode.

The update, which weighs in at just over 220MB, also delivers several other improvements and additions. Most notably, we see the battery percentage in the status bar (an odd omission to begin with), the ability to schedule Do Not Disturb mode, a dual-4G network option, smart answer functionality for Bluetooth devices, and a preview for the light bokeh effect on the rear camera.
OnePlus says the system update was pushed out to a small percentage of owners, adding that a wider launch will occur in “a few days.”

The news comes only a short time after it emerged that the OnePlus 6 has amajor security flaw. The vulnerability allows anyone with physical access to your phone to bypass the locked bootloader. Fortunately, OnePlus confirmed that a fix was indeed on its way, although a specific release date wasn’t revealed.
