OnePlus 7 and 7T lines are finally getting their first taste of Android 11
July 26, 2025
After adelayof more than a month, OnePlus is finally rolling out the much-awaited Android 11 open beta to theOnePlus 7and7Tlines.
The update comes in the form of Oxygen OS 11 Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T, and 7T Pro. However, the transition toAndroid 11for these phones is not without its challenges, at least for now.

According to the company, the build wipes out all data from the OnePlus 7T devices if you download it from the links given on theofficial forum. So you should only download it using the manual method only if you’re willing to proceed with a full data wipe of your phones. OTA updates are not affected by this, says the company, but don’t forget to backup your data.

There are also some known issues with the open beta for both the OnePlus 7 and 7T series. OnePlus warns that there’s a potential risk of increased power consumption and instability. The gallery app might be slower to load in some conditions, and some pictures may not be displayed. Bluetooth devices like earphones, speakers, and such may not be able to play sound occasionally. And lastly, brightness adjustment may lag in some conditions.
Should you upgrade?
It looks like there are plenty of compromises you’ll have to make if you download this latest Oxygen OS 11 beta build. Even though it’ll upgrade your phones with things like a fresh UI, newly added HEVC codec, dark mode features, and more, it’s probably wise to hold off for now and wait for a more stable build to come along.
If you’re still eager to get the current beta builds for your OnePlus 7 and 7T devices, you should know that they’re only available for unlocked, non-carrier models as of now. You’ll need at least 30% battery and a minimum of 3GB of available storage space to install the update.
