OnePlus gives us a very brief glimpse at the stock-like OxygenOS

June 13, 2025

OnePlus is teasing its new Android ROM before its official unveiling on February 12.

OnePlusfirst talked about its ROM planslate last year, and held a community contest to name it. The winning name, OxygenOS, wasannounced last week, but OnePlus revealed no other details about the ROM, save for the February 12 official launch. Now the company is lifting the veil in a brief video, revealing a ROM that is very close to its stock Lollipop roots.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that OnePlus is keeping it close to stock, at least for now. The bootstrapped company can’t afford to invest in making deep customization and its target customers likely appreciate the simplicity of Google’s version of Android.

The video casts doubt over a set of screenshots thatsurfaced last nightallegedly showing OxygenOS. The screenshots show a custom lockscreen and a heavily modified app drawer, none of which appear in the video.

It’s possible that the screenshots actually show a version of Color OS (the OS developed by OnePlus’ sister companyOppo) or something else altogether.

It’s been heavily speculated that OxygenOS is meant to replace Cyanogen OS as the default ROM for OnePlus’ next smartphone. OnePlus and Cyanogenpublicly quarreledover the latter’s decision to give Micromax exclusive rights over Cyanogen OS in India. As a result,OnePlus was left scramblingfor an alternative.
