In terms of sheer horsepower, the OPPO Find X goes toe to toe with theOnePlus 6as one of the most powerful phones out there. It’s got aSnapdragon 845chipset, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage — much like the top-end OnePlus 6.

The recently announcedASUS ROG Phonetrumps both of these devices, offering a faster version of the Snapdragon 845 (with a more aggressive cooling solution), 8GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. Nevertheless, if power and a ton of storage are your main priority, you can’t go wrong with any of these three devices.

OPPO isn’t settling on a 3,000mAh battery for the Find X and calling it a day. It packs in a 3,730mAh pack here, which is definitely above average for a2018 flagship. By comparison, theP20 Prohas a 3,750mAh battery, theMi 8tops out at 3,400mAh, and theGalaxy S9 Plusgives you 3,500mAh to work with. The ROG Phone andXiaomi Black Sharkboth have 4,000mAh batteries, but these are exceptions.

Tech enthusiasts will probably be happy to see the curved, 1080p 19.5:9AMOLED display on offer here. Sure, it’s not a 1440p display, but it’s an AMOLED screen without a notch.

Otherwise, the most eye-catching feature is the phone’s the pop-up mechanism sandwiched between the front and back of the phone, which hosts a selfie camera and 3D facial recognition sensors on the front and the phone’s dual camera setup on the back when revealed.

A few missing features

However, it’s not all smooth sailing. The Find X is missing more than a few features.

For one, OPPO ditched thefingerprint scanner, forcing you to use face unlock instead, making us wonder whether theGoogle Play Storeand other services support OPPO’s alternative solution already. If not, that makes for a major inconvenience right off the bat.

Other missing features include wireless charging, microSD expansion (it has plenty of internal storage though), an IP rating, and a headphone jack. The latter two omissions are rather interesting, because one refrain from some brands is that they ditch the jack to enable water resistance.

Hey, at least it lacks a notch, right? What do you think about the OPPO Find X specs?
