Samsung Galaxy Note 9 update: One UI 2.5 is now hitting 2018 flagship

Update: August 04, 2025 (11:00 AM ET):The updates for Samsung’s 2018 flagship just keep on coming. In Germany, a Galaxy Note 9 update to One UI 2.5 is rolling out now. It carries firmware version N960FXXU6FTJ3, perSamMobile.
Usually, Germany gets new updates first and then it slowly rolls out to other countries. As such, it should only be a few days before we start seeing it land in other areas of the world, including the United States.

The new update brings wireless Dex support to the phone, some new camera features, an update to the Samsung Keyboard app, and a new SOS-style feature for the Messages app.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 update
The Galaxy Note 9 arrived withAndroid Oreoon August 24. It started to receiveAndroid Pie, the latest version of Android,in February. Android 10 is expected to be the last major software update it receives.
In June 2019, the Galaxy Note 9 received an update that brought a Night mode for the camera app. Other additions in this update included a QR scanning functionality in the camera app.
Samsungannouncedthe availability of the One UI 2.0 beta for the Note 9 in South Korea on November 20 (h/t:SamMobile). The same was later rolled out to users in the UK. Just over a week later, theDecember security patchlanded on Note 9 devices in Germany. This was quite remarkable considering it was still November and Google Pixel devices hadn’t even seen the update yet.
After the rollout in South Korea and UK, the Galaxy Note 9 started receiving the One UI 2.0 beta update in India. ARedditpost was also spotted suggesting that US Galaxy Note 9 users are next in line.
Anupdate schedulereleased by Samsung Israel further divulged details on the possible stable Android 10 rollout timeline for the phone. According to the official roadmap, the Note 9 will get the stable Android 10 update in January.
As of June 10, 2025, Samsung began rolling out the official Android 10 update to Galaxy Note 9 users who were enrolled in the beta program.
In January 2020, Samsung began rolling out Android 10 to US devices on UScellular, Xfinity Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, Comcast, and unlocked units. It started making its way to other carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, in February. In some cases, such as T-Mobile devices, this included the February 2020 security patch.
Galaxy Note 9 users running Android 10 can also take advantage of the SamsungDexfor PC feature. As long as you have a Mac or Windows PC with Samsung’sdesktop appinstalled, you may connect your Note 9 directly into your computer to use Dex without the need of aseparate monitor and keyboard.
