Samsung Galaxy S22 series' charging speed could be its biggest weakness
July 25, 2025
Samsunghasn’t pushed charging technology nearly as much as other smartphone companies. While the likes of Xiaomi and OPPO have lurched well past the 100W barrier, Samsung’s next flagships could still languish below the 30W mark. Three phones believed to be theGalaxy S22trio recently passed through China’s 3C certification service (viaWhyLab), this time shedding light on charging speeds for all three flavors.
Judging by a screenshot of the listing, model numbers SM-S9080, SM-S9060, and SM-S9010 support 25W charging (9V, 2.77A) and could land with an optional travel charger. Interestingly, that charger is listed as EP-TA800, Samsung’s preferred power supply for some two years.

Samsung Galaxy S22 charging speed: Is 25W too slow?
The news might be pretty disappointing to Samsung fans hoping for real charging buffs this time around. It is worth noting that the phones may support quicker charging speeds, even if the stock charger listed is limited to 25W. The company still offers an aftermarket 45W charger for theNote 10 PlusandGalaxy S20 Ultra. That said, Samsung has never focused on charging speed as a core feature for its flagships. It seems unlikely to change that philosophy ahead of the Galaxy S22 series launch.
Is 25W charging fast enough for the Galaxy S22 series?
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the S22 members pass through 3C, either. Previously, we gained insight into the phones’ battery capacities courtesy of the service. Notably, only the Galaxy S22 Ultra is set to retain its 5,000mAh capacity. Both the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus may settle for smaller cells.
