Samsung may have revealed Galaxy S9 camera info on its own website

As we get closer to the2018 Mobile World Congresstrade show, most analysts are expecting Samsung to officially reveal theGalaxy S9 and S9 Plusat the event in Barcelona. Today, we may have learned more information on the Galaxy S9’s camera hardware, and it may have ironically come fromSamsung’s own website.
The info on Samsung’s site (spotted byNDTV) talks about the company’s new ISOCELL camera sensors, and some of that technology is likely to show up first in the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. One of the more interesting hardware improvements mentioned is called ISOCELL Fast, which is a 3-stack fast readout sensor. Samsung claims that this will allow cameras with this sensor to record video in Full HD (1080p) resolution with a whopping 480 frames per second. That means the sensor will be able to offer super-slow mo video at a high resolution. The same sensor is also supposed to have a feature called Super PD, which Samsung hints will give smartphones faster autofocus speeds for its cameras.
The page also talks about another sensor, ISOCELL Bright, which is supposed to help improve taking photos in low-light conditions by combining four normal-sized pixels into one large pixel. There’s also a mention of ISOCELL Dual, which is supposed to improve features in smartphones with dual sensors, including better light sensitivity, depth effects, and sharper brightness. Finally, the page mentions ISOCELL Slim— a sensor that is supposed to offer high-quality images in smartphone cameras that have modules as thin as 0.9 microns.
There’s no official word yet on which ISOCELL sensors will be included in the Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus, but we would suspect at least some of them will be included in the upcoming flagships. A recent leak of analleged Galaxy S9 retail boxshowed that the phone could have a 12 MP rear camera with OIS and variable apertures. It also mentioned a “Super Slow-mo” feature, which sounds very much like what the ISOCELL Fast sensor will be capable of.
In any case, keep in mind that even though this camera sensor info comes from Samsung’s site, some or none of these features may actually be included in the Galaxy S9 itself. We will certainly hear more and more rumors about the phone before the official revealat MWC in late February.
