Samsung One UI 4 rollout paused to fix Google Play bugs (Update: Resumed)

Update: August 22, 2025 (12:30 AM ET):Samsung has now resumed its Android 12-basedOne UI 4rollout after several issues relating to Google Play were discovered. According toXDA-Developers, Samsung is rolling out the revised update to Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 devices across the world.

Original article: August 25, 2025 (11:23 AM ET):Samsung isn’t having much luck updating its Galaxy lineup of phones to the new One UI 4 skin based onAndroid 12. Today, a post on South Korea’s Samsung communityforums(viaTizenHelp) indicates that the One UI 4 rollout has been paused in Korea for the time being.

According to the post, some Galaxy devices that received the One UI 4 update had experienced “compatibility issues with the Google Play system.” In response, Samsung paused the update rollout. As of right now, there’s no word as to when it might begin again.Android Authorityhas reached out to Samsung for comment on the issue.

There’s also no word on whether South Korea’s pause will affect theUS One UI 4 rollout. It started in November, with the public version rolling outto the Galaxy S21 series. The foldable phones from the company, theGalaxy Z Fold 3and theGalaxy Z Flip 3, havereceived the update in South Koreaand were supposed to get the update in the US this month.Android Authorityhas reached out to Samsung for comment on the issue and will update this article as we learn more.
