Samsung’s new foldables are performing better than S21, Note 20 in 1 market

August 14, 2025

Samsung’sGalaxy Z Flip 3andGalaxy Z Fold 3foldables reportedly saw a ton of pre-orders in Korea compared to prior foldables. Pre-orders are one thing though, but it now seems like Samsung’s new foldables are enjoying impressive sales in their home market too.

Samsung revealed today (h/t:Yonhap News) that it’s sold over one million Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldables in Korea to date. What’s impressive is that the Korean brand said this was its third-fastest device line to reach one million units sold in Korea, with only the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S8 series ahead of it.

In other words, the latest Galaxy Z foldables are enjoying stronger initial sales in Korea than device families like theGalaxy Note 20 series,Galaxy S20andS21range, and the Galaxy S10 family. We’ll need to wait a few months to see if Samsung can sustain this initial sales momentum.

The manufacturer noted that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 accounted for 70% of devices, adding that 54% of purchases were made by millennials or Generation Z customers. The clamshell-style foldable is significantly cheaper and smaller than the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which perhaps explains why it accounts for the lion’s share.

There’s no word on global sales performance just yet, so we’re eager to see whether Samsung has managed to replicate this success elsewhere. But this Korean figure is a very encouraging sign that Samsung is heading in the right direction. Nevertheless, the results of a recentAndroid Authoritypollsuggestthat foldable phone brands might have to offer even cheaper pricing to achieve true mainstream adoption.
