Samsung stops sales of Galaxy Z Fold 2 (Update: It’s back with long ship times)

Update, August 14, 2025 (09:51 AM ET):It looks like the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is available again fromSamsung.com. However, even with availability, the phone’s shipping times are quite long. When we tried to buy the phone (which can only be done for an unlocked version), Samsung estimated it would take over a month for it to arrive. As such, it appears Samsung is winding down the availability of the foldable, although it still has some life yet.
Original article, June 22, 2025 (11:30 AM ET):WhenSamsunglaunched theoriginal Galaxy Fold, it had a very problematic start. Thankfully, the company fixed a lot of the problems related to that device with its sequel. Once that sequel landed, Samsung started to heavily downplay the original.
Well, it looks like Sammy could be repeating that strategy. As of today (as first spotted by9to5Google), the company’s official website no longer allows you to buy theSamsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. The site shows a blank page with text that says, “The Galaxy Fold is no longer available for purchase on Samsung.com, however please take a look at additional options in the Galaxy family.”

Now, it is interesting that the alert says “Galaxy Fold” and not “Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2.” The original Galaxy Fold isn’t even on Samsung.com, so clearly customers wouldn’t be trying to buy that and come across this alert.
It’s possible Samsung just copy-and-pasted the alert from the first time it did this and didn’t bother to change the name of the phone. Regardless, it appears to be impossible to buy the phone from Samsung.com.

Thankfully, if you still want one, you’re able to easily find it from other sources.Amazonhas the phone for sale in both colorways through the Samsung store, so it’s not like Samsung doesn’t have any units to move.
We feel this is a sign that the launch of the expectedGalaxy Z Fold 3is imminent. Once that phone lands, it will likely render the Galaxy Z Fold 2 obsolete in many respects, so Samsung will want to give the newest model a high level of focus. Stay tuned!
