Say hello to two leaked Xiaomi devices with a new Qualcomm chipset
August 01, 2025
Xiaomi’sMi Mix 2S,Redmi Note 5, andRedmi Note 5 Proare some of the bigger phone launches so far in 2018 for the Chinese manufacturer. You could soon count two more devices to that list, ifXDA Developers‘report eventually pans out.
According to the website, Xiaomi is working on two unannounced devices: the “Comet” and “Sirius.” Each device reportedly sports anOLEDdisplay, dual SIM card slots, an IR blaster, andAndroid 8.1 Oreounderneath Xiaomi’s MIUI software skin.

Unfortunately, the Comet and Sirius are said to omit NFC and micro SD card slots.
Taking a look at the internals, it appears that both phones feature the unannounced Snapdragon 710 chipset.XDA Developers, citing a “reliable source”, says the chipset is a re-branded version of theSnapdragon 670, itself an unannounced chipset.
According to the source, Qualcomm halted development on the Snapdragon 670 and chose to rename it the Snapdragon 710. Based on the kernel source code, the Snapdragon 710 will feature a dual-core high-end CPU cluster and hexa-core low-end CPU cluster.
This is an unusual CPU cluster arrangement, enabled by ARM’sDynamIQtechnology, though the end result is an octa-core chipset that could be Qualcomm’s most powerful mid-tier option.
The differences begin up front, where the Sirius reportedly features adisplay notchand the Comet does not. Both displays support some sort of always-on feature, but the notch is sure to annoy some people.
We are not sure if a larger display area accompanies that notch, though the Sirius allegedly includes a 3,120mAh battery. By comparison, the Comet includes a marginally-smaller 3,100mAh battery.
Finally, the Sirius looks to include a portrait mode for the camera. This could mean that the phone features some dual camera configuration around back, although thesingle-camera Pixel 2manages just fine.
Keep in mind that the Sirius and Comet are reportedly being tested internally. There is no guarantee that either device will be released to the masses.
