T-Mobile delivers November security update for Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge (Update: and faster data!)

July 10, 2025

T-Mobilehas rolled out November’s security patches for theSamsung Galaxy S7andGalaxy S7 Edge. The Galaxy S7 (SM-G930T) is being updated to Software version G930TUVU4APK1, while the Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935T) jumps to G935TUVU4APK1.

The security patch increases the level of protection on the Galaxy devices, of course, but there’s yet to be an announcement to specify which exactAndroid vulnerabilitieshave been targeted; that information should follow soon.

Nevertheless, Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners on T-Mobile should look out for the update notification shortly to bring their devices up to the latest security version.

Update:Though it seemed to be a somewhat innocuous update, it transpires that those who upgrade to the latest firmware from T-Mobile may alsobenefit from faster data speeds,as the pair of Galaxy devices are the first to support4×4 MIMOand DL-256QAM/UL-64QAM technologies. Four-by-four multiple input, multiple output (4×4 MIMO) is a specification which employs four antennas in devices and cell towers to increase LTE data rates and coverage. TheQAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) download and upload speedsrelate to a phone’s radio throughput capabilities: 256-bit DL and 64-bit UL are currently the highest values. Let us know in the comments if you notice a difference in LTE speeds after you update your handset.
