The Galaxy Fold 2 is rumored to feature the older Snapdragon 855

TheSamsung Galaxy Fold 2processor may not be the speediest on the planet when it launches later in 2020. A new, but unconfirmed,report fromMySmartPriceclaims the Galaxy Fold 2 will have theQualcomm Snapdragon 855chip inside, which is now almost a year old.
That means the Galaxy Fold 2 processor may not be theSnapdragon 865 chip, which is expected to be used inside the upcomingGalaxy S11/Galaxy S20series of smartphones. The article speculates that the reason for putting in the 855 chip is because the Galaxy Fold 2 has been in development for several months. It’s possible that the handset simply didn’t have enough time to incorporate Qualcomm’s newest and fastest mobile processor.
The same unconfirmed report also claims that the Galaxy Fold 2 will have a 10MP front-facing camera. It’s more than possible that the phone will use the same front sensor found on the currentSamsung Galaxy Note 10series.
Samsung is expected to reveal the successor to theGalaxy Foldon February 11 as part of its latestSamsung Unpacked press event. Samsung has teased that the Galaxy Fold 2might use a clamshell flip-phone designduring its developer conference in October 2019. In December, pictures that allegedly showa working Galaxy Fold 2 prototypemade their way to the internet. They also show the handset with a flip-phone chassis. Other rumors claim the Galaxy Fold 2might actually launch before the Galaxy S11/S20. The Fold 2’s price is also rumored to be lower than the original Galaxy Fold, but by how much is still under debate.
Samsung has been somewhat coy about the hardware in the Galaxy Fold 2. Perhaps this is due to all of the issues the company ran into with the original Galaxy Fold, including displays that broke and problems with its flexible hinge. Those issues caused Samsung to delay the Galaxy Fold’s official launch by several months. The company definitely does not want a repeat of those problems with the Galaxy Fold 2.
