The LG K30 is the latest budget phone to join Amazon’s Prime Exclusive phones
June 20, 2025
As a refresher, the phone features a 5.3-inch display with 1,280 x 720 resolution, 13MP primary camera, 5MP selfie camera, Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of expandable storage. The K30 also includes a 3,000mAh battery, rear fingerprint sensor, headphone jack, and Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box.
The real story with the K30 is with its support for the 600MHz spectrum, otherwise known as band 71 on T-Mobile. Previously used to transmit television signals, band 71 was barely used anymore before T-Mobile bought it and other spectrum during agovernment auctionlast year foralmost $8 billion.

$8 billion is a cool amount to spend on spectrum, but band 71 allows T-Mobile to better compete againstAT&TandVerizonin rural areas. Band 71 also allows for better signals in buildings, though the focus is on additional rural coverage.
There are certain pockets around the U.S. that can access band 71 right now, but a full build-out will not happen until July 2020. Even so, T-Mobile’smerger with Sprintmeans that timeline gets thrown out the window, so we must wait and see how quickly T-Mobile will build out band 71.
Still, the K30 is the only budget smartphone so far to offer support for band 71. Most devices that support the spectrum are flagship devices like theSamsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.
For now, you may pick up the unlocked K30 at the link below for $140. We do not know if the unlocked version includes support for band 71, though the phone works on T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon.
