This leaked Samsung mid-ranger could be the $500 5G phone to beat

July 28, 2025

Samsung launched theGalaxy A52 5Gback in March. The mid-range smartphone offers a pleasing 120Hz display, great battery life, IP ratings, and a capable main camera at a $500 price. However, one of the biggest qualms we had with it (see ourreview) was its middling performance. It looks like Samsung is about to correct that with a successor called the Galaxy A52S.

Armed with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G, the performance of the Galaxy A52 fell far behind other phones in its price range. In our testing, the iPhone SE’s A13 Bionic easily bested the Qualcomm SoC. We noted that the phone is decent for everyday use but can’t be relied upon for heavy lifting.

A new leak now shows that Samsung’s Galaxy A52S will come equipped with the younger, beefierSnapdragon 778G chip. The CPU is also found on recently launched phones like theMotorola Edge 20and theHONOR 50 Pro. It promises a performance boost of over 40% compared to the Snapdragon 768G that powered several upper-mid-range devices last year. As the leak fromWinFuturenotes, you can expect the rumored Galaxy A52S to be 35% faster compared to its sibling.

The new A-series Samsung is expected to launch in Europe with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Other regions should get an 8GB + 256GB model, the leak claims.

There’s no change in any of the other specs of the phone. So you get the same 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel with an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 4,500mAh battery, a 64MP quad-camera setup, and an IP67 rating. The design of the Galaxy A52S will also likely remain the same as per leaked renders.

The phone is expected to launch later this month and cost €449 (~$527).
