What is dead may never die: Telltale Games is coming back, new games on the way

Back in September 2018, we witnessedthe unfortunate demise of Telltale Games. The game studio made its name by offering point-and-click adventures based on popular franchises, most notably The Walking Dead, Game Of Thrones, Batman, and more.
However, it appears that Telltale has been saved. According toa new press releasefrom the company, the studio is coming back thanks to a purchase of all Telltale assets by a holding company called LCG Entertainment. Gaming industry veterans Jamie Ottilie and Brian Waddle will lead the revived studio from a new headquarters in Malibu, California.
Along with the press release, we also can seea new Telltale Games website. It’s bare-bones for now, but it’s there.
With this announcement, we also know that Telltale is working on both reintroducing old games from its catalog as well as developing new titles. As of now, it’s not quite clear which older titles will resurface, although the new website does list a few Batman games and the popular title The Wolf Among Us.
Similarly for new titles, Telltale hasn’t revealed if it will continue to develop games with previous media properties or if it will develop games for newer franchises. It’s all very up-in-the-air at the moment.
Regardless, it’s great news that Telltale Games is back, as its brand of point-and-click games has few peers.
The original death of Telltale seemed to mostly stem from poor management and bad business decisions. Luckily, it appears many former Telltale staff members are being hired back at the “new” Telltale.
