You can now control your NVIDIA Shield TV with Amazon Echo devices

Nvidia’sShield TVis the gift that keeps on giving, receivingplenty of supportsince its launch back in 2015. The company isn’t stopping just yet, as you’re able to now control theAndroid TVbox via yourAmazon Echodevices.

The NVIDIA Shield TV Skill is available via theAlexaapp (on Android or iOS) and lets you issue voice commands to the Android box. All you need to do is open the Alexa app, visitSkills & Games, search forNVIDIA Shield TVand hit theenableoption, the company explained in an emailed press release.

From here, you should accept the terms and connect your NVIDIA account. Finally, select the specific Shield TV and Echo device for pairing, and you should be good to go.

So what can you actually do with the Skill? NVIDIA says you can use your voice to power on/off the TV box, adjust volume, launch specific apps, use media controls (pause, play, fast-forward, next), or visit specific menus (e.g. settings and home).

The company noted that it’s now the only “streamer” to support both Amazon Echo andGoogle Homedevices. That would be a pretty big feather in NVIDIA’s cap if the company is talking about streaming boxes or even Android boxes in general.

The new Alexa Skill is limited to the U.S. for now, but the company said it was working to bring the feature to more markets.
